FAQ
What is speech therapy?
Speech therapy is a specialized service that evaluates and treats communication challenges. This includes speech sounds, language skills, social communication, voice, fluency (stuttering), and feeding or swallowing difficulties.

What is virtual (teletherapy) speech therapy?
Virtual speech therapy, also known as teletherapy, is a convenient way to receive speech and language services through a secure online platform. Sessions are conducted in real-time using video while engaged in activities similar to in-person therapy. Teletherapy can be especially beneficial for families seeking flexibility, reducing travel time, and increasing consistency with sessions. Caregivers may also be involved to support participation and carryover at home.

What ages do you work with?
Speech therapy can support individuals across the lifespan—from toddlers to adults.

How young can a child participate in teletherapy?
Teletherapy can be effective even for very young children when sessions are tailored to their developmental level and supported by caregiver involvement. I have successfully worked with a teletherapy client as young as 2 years old. Sessions for younger children are play-based, highly interactive, and often include parent coaching to help support communication skills throughout daily routines.

How long will my child need speech therapy?
The duration of therapy depends on several factors, including the type and severity of the communication difficulty, consistency of attendance, and practice outside of sessions. Some clients make progress in a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support.

Can adults benefit from speech therapy?
Yes. Adults may seek speech therapy for:
-
Speech or language changes after stroke or injury
-
Voice concerns
-
Cognitive-communication difficulties
-
Accent modification
-
Professional communication skills
How is progress measured in speech therapy?
Progress is monitored through a combination of data collection during sessions, observation of skill use in different settings, and feedback from clients and families. Goals are regularly reviewed and adjusted to ensure continued growth and meaningful outcomes.
